West Alton Project: Please Contact Your Supervisor Today
On June 5th, County of Orange Supervisors voted certified the Final EIR* for the West Alton Project, a large-scale residential complex in Irvine that would closely flank the northern-most segment of the Coast to Cleveland Wildlife Corridor.
Laguna Greenbelt Inc. published an Op-Ed ahead of the June 5th meeting, outlining the logical move to wait on certification.
At that meeting, Supervisor Spitzer voted ‘no’ after Laguna Greenbelt, Inc. and several other community organizations expressed their concern and advice to wait to certify.
A few days later, the City of Laguna Beach announced it would move to bring legal action against the County citing as one of the reasons endangering the functioning of the wildlife corridor, and by extension, the health of coastal wilderness parks.
